There is a widespread outage at OpenAI. Thousands of people worldwide have experienced inconvenience as a result of this outage, which has impacted multiple services like the API, ChatGPT, and Sora.
Around 5 AM IST, 2,483 complaints of problems were received, indicating a significant service outage, according to DownDetector.com. Many paying customers have vented their frustration on social media channels about the outage, which has not differentiated between free and premium service subscribers.
OpenAI has a solution in the works
OpenAI claims to have located the source of the outage and is now on a solution. Although they want ChatGPT to function again as soon as possible, they haven't given a timeframe for when this will happen. When trying to access the service, a lot of customers are getting odd error messages. Users were even logged out of the app in certain instances.
"We have received reports of API calls returning errors, as well as issues logging in to platform.openai.com and ChatGPT," OpenAI said on its status page, acknowledging the problem. ''We are working to implement a solution after identifying the problem,'' it quoted. Users are in limbo as a result of the lack of an estimated time for problem resolution.
Numerous issues, such as sluggish logins and decreased functionality across multiple functions, have been reported by users.
Improved ChatGPT integration via Siri was one of the new improvements included in iOS 18.2 earlier on the 11th of December for users of iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Users can now communicate with OpenAI's chatbot directly from the Siri interface thanks to this. However, some users who have updated to the most recent software are unable to access this feature because of the current outage.
One user expressed their displeasure on X (previously Twitter) by tweeting, "Hey @openai @sama @chatgpt, I'm a Gpt Pro subscriber. I'm having problems with my acc... can you help?" They encountered an error message stating, "{ }error:{ code: 503, message: 'Service Unavailable.', param: null, type: 'cf_service_unavailable' }".
